ADA Signage

At Comet Signs we utilize the thermoforming process to manufacture custom ADA signage.

ADA signage is required by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) which requires proper signage in all public spaces to ensure that persons with sensory disabilities are able to locate and read, visually, or by tactile touch (Braille or raised letters).

There are several criteria required for a sign to meet the ADA requirements.  At Comet Signs we utilize the thermoforming process to manufacture this signage.  Thermoforming is a generic term, which refers to a process that begins with an extruded sheet of plastic. The process involves heating the plastic sheet to a temperature range where it is soft or malleable. The sheet is then stretched against a cool single-sided mold. When the sheet has cooled to the point where it retains the shape of the mold, it is removed and the excess plastic may be trimmed from the formed product. Thermoforming represents a group of sheet-forming processes that includes vacuum forming, drape forming, free bubble forming, mechanical bending, matched-mold forming, etc. A copy can be embossed or debossed or flat depending on the client’s brand preferences. 

Graphic decoration can include vinyl, paint (or a combination), digital UV ink direct print or distortion screened to match the client’s brand colors every time.
